I am overhearing snippets of a conversation that is so stereoypical it makes me want to either wince or laugh.

A pair of queer girls here at the Diesel, early 20s, probably local students, picking apart the relationship history of a queer friend of theirs, and being especially critical of the fact that she occationally sleeps with.... men.

One has to laugh.

Are they having trouble handling the concept "bisexual?"

It's one of those weird things in sexual politics, that straights, even straights who dont like queers, are less affronted by the existance of bisexuality, than far too many gay and lesbian folks.

There are reasons many and varied, and I have no idea which ones are correct, and as the years pass, I care less and less.

But I'm still amused by it.

I get pissed by it. I think because it shows the lack of confidence they have in themselves that they feel undermined by a Bisexual. It says to me they are way too invested in an "Us vs. Them" worldview, which makes me react with a "Fuck 'em, who cares what they think?" just because they're being assholes in order to feel better about themselves.
