First of all, his laser cutter just utterly rocks. I used the SVG of my personal logo, and we played around cutting it thru pieces of acrylic, and etching it into dogtags. So now I have a set of custom luggage tags. Then I grabbed my Ex Libris image, and we cut it into blocks of wood. Unfortunately, I didn't have the high rez image handy, so there is noticable pixilation. We also discovered that cutting all the way thru a half inch of this wood is a bad idea, it makes the wood burst into flame.
At the same time, ideaphile came over, with pieces of titanium and carbon fiber sheeting. The titanium was a success, in that we found out that the right settings of speed and power would tint it a nice clear blue. The carbon sheeting, not a success. The heat would melt the epoxy for a big area around the hotpoint, and the carbon would only occationally break. Basically, it just made a mess.
Then we played with his HP Z3100 professional poster printer. I picked a bunch of stuff, we printed it, some on really nice bamboo fiber paper, and some on really high quality photo paper. They came out amazing. Some will be gifts, and some will hang on my wall. It's now all rolled up for me to mail to myself.
