Thoughts on the future of the MySQL User Conference
If I were Sun, I would be tempted to have this next MySQL User Conference be the last one, and replace it with the "Open Source Database" conference, and have it be about MySQL, Postgress, JavaDB, and such stuff.

Historically that is where we began :)

We had two open source database conferences in the US, before MySQL started its own (I spoke at them).

interesting, but...

Makes sense from some perspective. However, the MySQL as-is has enough traction on its own and also has a special atmosphere. Not sure it would make sense to replace that.

Re: interesting, but...

Plus, it would de-legitimize all of those open source databases if they didn't have their own. as if "this db is not well-enough used to have its own conference".

I think an *additional* conference for open source databases would be good.....except doesn't that already exist?
