The Weekend
Thursday. Afternoon gym, legs. Went very heavy. Lent my car to jezel for the evening. Met up with intrepid_reason, stopped at Whole Foods, enjoyed a picnic at Ravenna Park. Hiked around the park. It's big, much bigger than I had thought. Watched a movie, Man of the Year. I really liked it, now my favorite Robin Williams role. Ignore the trailers, ignore the critics, go rent it. Went dancing at the Grind. Lots of people there. Had fun. Expected the back rooms to be crowded because the dance floor was, but they were almost empty. Weird.

Friday. Went to Penny Arcade Expo, got a one day pass. First time I had been inside the convention center since LISA`99. Wandered the expo floor, watched the demo of Rock Band. Think "DDR of a Rock Band". Got interviewed by Yahoo Video. Met Wil Weaton(blog). He was genuinely nice. Ate vegan hot dogs. Relaxed in hot tub.

Saturday. Gave ride to Adrienne to PAX. Legs started getting very sore from gym (it usually takes 2 days). Picked up amythis from ferry. Went to chemicallace's 21st bday party at the Chapel Bar on Capitol Hill. Good party, bad service. Relaxed in hot tub.

Sunday. Walked to Cal Anderson Park, for a FOAF's brunch. Listened to several more chapters of The Golden Compass. Went mini golfing with a group, got a surprisingly good score. Got an SMS invitation for a ride to Burning Man, had to regretfully turn it down. Immediate plans? Relax in hot tub.

Ravenna Park is one of these places that's bigger on the inside than the outside. :-)

Have you ever been in the one off Alki? It's got a sizable chunk of old-growth forest.

Are you talking about Lincoln Park, off of Beach Drive?

No, although that's a wonderful park too. This is a very small pocket of a park. You cross over it via a little stone bridge when you're coming up Admiral from Alki. The other trailhead is by the Alki Beach school, which is at fifty-something off Alki.

Like I said, I need more picinics in my life...

Ack! You're making me miss Seattle. It's not fair. :)

The Golden Compass rocks big time, by the way. My youngest son and I basically devoured the whole trilogy just a couple of weeks ago. Hope you enjoy it just as much!
