Crackpottery, an idea about inertia

While looking thru a notebook of mine, I found the following text. It's probably utter utter physics crackpottery, but I'm throwing it out here anyway.

an idea about the nature of inertia
avoid action at far distance

every real particle is surrounded by a swarm of virtual particles
virtual particles have same velocity as "parent"
if parents v vector changes, virtual children have to live longer / work harder to recombine
had to write it down before i forgot it
should have dated it. this is 20040703

text colors

I have LJ set to white text on a black background, resulting in unreadable text in the above (white on white). May I suggest when you set a background color for text, you also set the foreground color? Thanks.

Re: text colors

Oddly, I do have the foreground set to "black". I wonder what the problem is.

Re: text colors

Interesting! I guess LJ or firefox must be stripping that on my friends-view, the style I am getting is just:

style="background: white url(http://mark.atwood.name/lj/bg-8inchgrid.gif) repeat scroll 0%; -moz-background-clip: -moz-initial; -moz-background-origin: -moz-initial; -moz-background-inline-policy: -moz-initial;"

On the comments page I get:

"foreground: black; background:white; background-image: url(http://mark.atwood.name/lj/bg-8inchgrid.gif); background-repeat: repeat"

which works just fine.

Ah, looks like a firefox bug; lynx sees:

style="foreground: black; background:white; background-image: url(http://mark.atwood.name/lj/bg-8inchgrid.gif); background-repeat: repeat"

on this entry for my friends page.

I guess I will go poke the firefox people now.

It seems an elegant enough answer. It awakens that voice inside that says "you already knew that," too.

Congratulations--the Higgs field is bogus. Which means the Higgs particle is a bogon. :)

I have a predisposition to your hypothesis, though, in that I used to teach love as a force by extending interactions of virtual particles. There is no "me" and "you," merely perturbations in the field "we."
