Landed at SFO. Discovered I left my driver's licence card back in Seattle. So no rental car. Taxi to hotel.

Urgh! That must be frustrating. At least you won't have to drive back from Seatac.

Wha?

How the heck did you manage THAT? Every time I've been flying I've had to SHOW my license just to get through security. Did you leave it actually lying around somewhere in the airport?

Re: Wha?

I usually use my passport as my airport ID.

I did that when I traveled to Denver once. Denise drove my license to Seatac in 18 minutes, got it on a plane and, three hours later, after dinner in the airport, I had my license.

How much did that cost? Or was this all pre-9/11 where she could actually go into the terminal, talk to the gate agent, and talk to a flight attendent?

Sol found it today, I asked him to same-day it to me.

It cost the same as Next Day Air...she went "counter to counter". You can ship items that way quickly. I think you should still be able to do it.

Oh and, you go to the baggage area, not past security.

it's called counter to counter - the counter is in the baggage claim area and they put it on a plane for you. I've forgotten what it cost.

I did that one time. Left work, found the guy's DL, drove from Bellevue to seatac during rush hour traffic in under 20 mins and got to the airport counter (in the baggage claim area) in time for him to have his DL that evening.
