The reason for my job
The cable companies wouldn't be spending one red cent on advancing technology or on improved service, if it wasn't for scenes like this.

Can't argue with that. Chalk up one for the not quite invisible hand.

Where did you take that photo?
I've noticed comcast runs a lot of adds about how the dish sucks in the rain. I wonder how true that is.

Indeed yes, that is the back of Gordito's.

I'm impressed that you recognized it.

It's very convenient for when you're lost or just curious--you can tell which way's south!

(An idea stolen from Keith Lynch, IIRC, but one which I actually use on a regular basis.)

We may be getting a competing cable company here in richmond.va.us, as it happens.

And here's a question: Have you thanked them? Did you send them a Christmas card? Where's your gratitude? These people make your job possible!

(OK, getting my tongue out of my cheek now, before I bite myself...)

Far from improving products, I've noticed on my cable system a marked INCREASE in symptoms like compression failures and other digital glitches in the "Analog" portion of the cable system (which is all I've got, really, digital cable is only digital on the additional channels). Cartoon network regularly explodes into a mosiaced mess, and I've even had news channels just go black, with color only re-appearing when the anchor moves his head.

If a Dish is better than that, I'd switch, if it weren't for the long term contracts and my personal uncertainty. (Well, I also appreciate the inclusion of Univision and AZN, which cost significantly extra on the Dish).

Yeah, this is an old post I'm commenting on. I shoulda added you back ages ago..
