Spent the day at work yesterday working on a little task that should have just been an hour or so, but instead ended up taking nearly the entire shift. The software on our boxes, instead of running locally off the harddisk (the way the end users will use them), can also boot and run off an external NFS server (dear hackers, don't try this, you will just brick the box). So I set on such up for a newer cost-reduced spin of our next-gen board, for some non-developers to use. And the machine that was to be the NFS server is a creaky Solaris box that's almost full. Almost full drives under Solaris are sllloooowwwww.

When I got back home, I went on a tear of housekeeping. I hadn't cleaned last weekend, and this coming weekend is pretty full, so this was the night to get it all done. R5D4 collected quite a bucket of sludge out of the carpet.

I've been listening to the audiobook of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. It was several years ago that I had read it, and it had been a fast crash read over the holidays at my parents house, and watching the movie had scribbled over my wetware memories of the book. Ron was right, Hermione was downright priggishly *annoying* back then.

Several days ago, I usps'ed to jatg the bookcrossing'ed copy of Freakanomics, and my DVDs of season one of Battlestar Galactica, but I guess they arrived after she had left for Canada. wurtmann, if you want to get caught up on the show, either go get the package at jatg workplace, or else the DVDs will be onsale at BestBuy on July 26th.

I discovered also yesterday that my property manager has fixed my screen rails, so I can now open my windows without my cats pushing out the screens. Since my apt had been getting oppresively warm and stuffy this last week, I fell asleep with my window open. To awaken this morning to the sound of pouring rain. Rain? In Seattle?! No!

Current Mood: waking up
