I believe you would. But I also believe you keep (would have kept) your cats inside in the first place, rendering rescue unnecessary, not so?

Ever since sionnagh worked on Catnip, the Tufts Vet School cat newsletter, lo these many years ago, I have known about keeping cats indoors. And if you don't, these are the risks you take.

They are, in fact yes, indoor only. Cars are quite accurately modelled as predators on housecats.

Plus coyotes range semi-freely in the perimeters munis around Seattle, and are sometimes seen all the way into the core of the city itself.

When I was 8 or 9, my mother did very much the same thing -- except the canids involved were two or three retrievers and a German Shepherd/wolf hybrid. Bigger, heavier, but probably less inclined to bite people. She escaped unscathed; the cat was urinating blood, but after a visit to the vet lived happily for 8 or 9 more years.
