My family has always grown food. It's sort of a cultural imperitive.

My sister jatg has started greenthumbing her backyard. My other sister wyckhurst has started planting. My friends judyg and omahas grow cooking herbs on their back porches. I've always felt a little bit guilty about not doing likewise.

These are tempting me.

How about some terracota pots and the plants. Swansons in Ballard is my favorite nursery.

Hey, that's really cool. I want to start an herb garden. I think I'm going to instigate "Homemade Pizza Fridays" at home.

What a neat idea! I may try one or two-I've always liked using fresh herbs when I cook. Thanks for the pointer.

I've been known to say that failure to grow basil should be a venal sin.

Wait... they're selling seeds and dirt in a paper bag for 8 bucks? And all you have to do is water them? Um... I'll admit that the form factor is fun, but right now I'm growing hot pepper plants from seed in tin cans on my windowsill. Call me what you will.

And then there's these. Which are kind-of the same idea but cuter.
