How do you tell if it's allergies instead of a cold?

For me, it's hard to tell in the early stages. A cold is not helped measurably by antihistamines, and my eyes are clearer. (When I have an allergy attack as bad as a cold, my eyes run almost as much as my nose.)

Vitamin C (in large doses) does help with the symptoms of both, though.

Re: allergies/cold

For me, if it's a cold, I usually get sensitive armpits or inner thighs due swollen lymph glands.

It's a bit of TMI but another one is that if it's allergies, my ear wax production tends to go up while when it's a cold, it's only my nose that gets stuffed...
