So I researched local IBM "partners", and yesterday morning took them to UniSoft in Redmond. A few hours later, I got the call. "The waranty expired on Dec 18". Damn. How much for non-waranty service? "A new system board is $600, and that may not fix it". Which is what I paid for each them.
So I told them to try the "take it all apart, reseat everything, and put it back together". It can't hurt, and I'll just be out the cost of the tech's time.
Crud crud crud.
Maybe it's time to bite the bullet, and actually buy a newish one from IBM, instead of these skanky eBay refurbs.
