New Money Fun
So, the Bureau of Engraving and Printing is upgrading the fifty dollar bill, mainly to incorporate the "Counterfeit Deterrence System" that prevent the newer versions of Photoshop from printing likenesses.

The various governments that have come up with the CDS are very secretive about it, but how it works has already been figured out. And, of course, unshackled software like GIMP happily ignore it.

Anyway, the BDP is making available on their website scans of the bills (face back), with the defacing word specimen printed over it.

But, if you take those PDF files, and run them thru pdfimages, it will give you decent rez (649 x 273) scans of the bills, without the defacing.

Even though the graphics software may handle it, there's some evidence that a printer will not print it. It's not always about the driver, either: I've seen an anecdote where a color copier produced a copy that painted half the bill in all black.

Yay for new money!

Now if we can only get rid of the one dollar bill and get the original quarter design on the coin once the state project is over...
