Work has been frustrating. The task on my plate is to upgrade the SNMP agent in our box. This consisted of grabbing a pristine copy of ucd-snmp-4.1.2 and comparing it to the one in our build, to locate all of our additions and customizations (added MIBs, Makefile changes to fit with our build system, bugfixes, etc). Then taking all the appropriate changes and additions, and adding it to the latest version of ucd-snmp, and plugging *that* back into the tree.)

It's been annoying grubby work, that I'm sadely, rather well qualified for (one foot in development, one foot in UNIX sysadmin'ish stuff.).

The problem is now that damn thing wont work, and I don't have a clue as to why. I've been staring at it and poking at it and reviewing my work for three days, and getting nowhere. And that Does Not Look good when I have to spin "I'm still trying to fix it" in my weekly telecons to the PM, to my boss^2, and to the VP of SW Dev.

I had had to decline a couple of social invitations for Friday evening because I had thought that I was going to be in on an IPTV demo. But the demo got pushed off, but I had people looking over my shoulder "helping" with the SNMP thing instead, so that took me into early evening. Over 48 hours in the office this week.

I headed down to elfs & omahas for "Fish Friday". This time it was breaded salmon burgers, which turned out very yummy. Especially with the last minute substitution of fresh basil for lettuce. (Damn, I forget to take a bag of it with me.)

After a couple of rounds of Uno (played competeatively, but still not with the cutthroat glee that my family plays it), I took my leave, and followed up on an invitation to visit tonyawinter. I got to see some of the stuff she makes in her workshop, and how it gets made.

As one uniquely suited to judge, I have to say that 'cutthroat' is the appropriate descriptive term for your family's Uno games. :)

At the height, the pool games were more than cutthroat. Brutal...

I used to be able to beat my dad. What a sweet month that was. ;-)

I loved surprising dates by acting like I didn't know how to play and then trouncing them soundly. *bats eyes*

I still think that a religion somewhere should have declared basil sacred. I am fully aware that there is a travesty called "sacred basil," but it's neither sacred nor basil and so counts for a little less than nothing.
