Decisions
I had a lot of fun fishing in Alaska with my dad and brothers.

My dad wants to go again next year.

He wants to know if I want to come too.

But, it's not a little bit of money.

There is no delicate way to tell him that I would come if he also invites jatg, who was justly green that she was not invited this year.

Update: I decided not to go.

That sounds like a really good answer actually.

Yeah, he just called and invited Bill (we'd have to pay plus we don't eat fish) and it pissed me off to no end that he'd invite Bill who never expressed an interest in going before he would invite Jeanette. Seriously!

What I don't understand about this whole thing is why, even if your dad really wants this fishing thing to be a Guy Outing, he doesn't offer to go somewhere and do something fun and interesting with just you and Jeanette that you would all like.

Um, yeah. He was talking about Elk Hunting. ELK HUNTING!

I think I'd rather pull off a toenail than go elk hunting.

Jeanette & I were talking about taking a girls only river rafting trip someday. That would be fun.

This was what I was thinking when I saw Mark's post. This is obviously a guy outing. So where's the father-daughter outing? I know that my dad and I did a yearly rafting trip down a river, and I always looked forward to it.

Of course, the question then becomes, have the daughters ever actually *told* dad that this is a thing of want? Perhaps dad doesn't understand/know that the daughters are craving this father-daughter time? And none of this "he should know already" crap! Being a parent, I *know* that becoming a parent *doesn't* come with a book with all of the answers (what a pity, it would be a best seller and make the writer billions!)

Booklets and Answers

Generally I've found that most of my answers come from seeing what has worked and hasn't. And then winging it. A book would be superb. But then people would have to read. What a concept.

Trust me, he's been told.

Personally, I don't want to go. I don't want to go elk hunting either.

I think Jett & I will go to Lilith Fair next time around. Heh.

Because...

My dad is a doofus.

MY favorite part was hearing my dads response to being told that I would have liked to have gone:

"I don't want to encourage that foolishness."

WTF!!! I mean, REALLY!

Yeah well,

If dad is so loathe to ask me, than I don't want to go. With him anyway. I'd love to go fishing in Alaksa though.

Re: Yeah well,

The money for the trip starts today. Do I need it? Can I afford it?

...you are missing the point.

Re: Fishing

I'm not going not because Jett is not, it was honestly a time and money judgement for this coming year.

But it remains true, that Dad handled this badly.
