“Well, it's been the last day of fishing here at Doc Warner's and the weather in was absolutely beautiful, bright and sunny, which meant the fishing wasn't that good. If the weather is like this all the time up here in southeast Alaska in another 15 years there's gonna be 25 million people living down here, much to the place's detriment, but I can't complain right now. I've seen lots of bald eagles the last few days, saw a whole bunch of humpback whales including watching them breach, jump and blow, that sort of thing. Didn't get to see any bears. As I said, the fishing wasn't that great today, just a couple of salmon. The only thing I was able to pull in was a gray cod, which is a disgusting grey fish. I suppose in some places it's better but here's it's oily, and stinks of fish, and utterly worm-ridden, literally, but it makes great bait. Lawrence pulled in a 131 pound halibut, impressively gigantically huge, not the biggest thing pulled in this week but the biggest thing we've pulled in, and filled all our boxes up. We're overweight and so they're gonna be three extra boxes heading to Seattle full of fish. Let's see, what else. I see, from looking on the Starband internet connection here Tonya Winter has figured out how to play Ogg Vorbis files for LJ phone posts. It wasn't a conspiracy by me to get everyone to install more software, it was probably a conspiracy by the livejournal folks to get everybody to play Ogg Vorbis instead of MP3. Anyway, we have to be up at 5:30 in the morning local time to catch the ferry back to be back on our way, and I'll see everybody that I'll see when I get home. Ta”
