“Well I've jsut come through the pass. I guess I'm at sort of the tail end of it. Um...snow on the ground and pouring down rain. Not so much fun, but the temperatures 36 degrees; so, I'm still 4 degrees away from serious trouble. Uh..644 miles to go according to the GPS.”

“Well, next guest up is Kennewick. According to the GPS I have 516 miles to go. Yahoo maps directions got me off the freeway at an unexpected place and shuttled me around the Hanford Energy Reservation. I think it's probably shorter, but I doubt it's faster, so I'm going to avoid that on the way back.”

“Somewhere in Eastern Oregon, according to the GPS I have 422 miles to go. The freeway is unpleasantly windy and just a little bit wet and just a little bit foggy and all and all unhappy, but the sky's opened up in front of me and I'm driving straight into the Orion Constellation. And I just realized it's been months...months...since I've actually seen a star.”
