A review of the Netgear PS101 (http://www.netgear.com/products/prod_details.php?prodID=143) Mini Print Server

The Netgear PS101 is a cool little product. The size of a connector backshell, and turns any parallel port printer into a network printer. And for the most part, so far, it Just Works.

There are some niggling little details that would make it perfect, such as support for IPP and IEEE802.3af PoE and ZeroConf with UPnP (for the windows folks) and Rendezvous (for the mac folks). But just DHCP and LPR is good enough, and needing to plug in Yet Another wall wart isn't too painful.

I wish that the docs wouldn't say it supports "Windows LPR" tho. LPR is a horrible horrible protocol, "worthy" of BillyShit, but still, it's not. And it pisses me off when credit is given to them for things that are not theirs.

I started feeling a line of fire running from one point on the right side of my neck where it joins to my skull, down my neck, under my shoulder blade, and finally to a point on the right of my middle spine. It wasn't sharp or sudden, just a slowly growing throb. I must have mildly strained something, either at the start, or sometime this weekend. I will see if it's still with me next time.

I complained a bit to Steve, and he said that *nobody* is completely injury-free. People who don't work out are riddled with small strains and sprains and weak joints. People who do work out, less so, but are more aware of them. And people who are hardcore are, again, riddled with muscular and connective tissue damage.

After a long break, I've started taking "progress pictures" again. It's a little bit difficult, emotionally. In part because, the more I work, the more critical I get of my progress. And also the ways that my body is fighting me get all my attention. FerEx, my abs are not "flat", but the "stick out" of it is not flab at all. And I still am aware of the softness around my lower back. It makes it really hard for me to remember to notice the improved definition in my upper back and in my quads, and the removal the flab on my thighs.

Anyway...
