Just spoke with the adjuster, their outsourced "how much is it worth" people are still saying "24 to 48 hours". They were saying "24 to 48 hours" on Friday. And now he's making noises about "well, maybe we'll repair it". Nuh-uh, I don't think so, it will never be the same, this accident will show up on it's CarFax, and I can forget about getting a long term maintenance contract on it after a "repair".

Jeez people, how freaking hard is it to keep track of the value of what you're insuring AHEAD OF TIME? I thought that that was kinda what INSURANCE COMPANIES actually did for a living, how can they honestly keep their books without knowing their liability? Oh, silly me, "honest" as opposed to highly footnoted "estimated".

You did say you used Geico, right? They're cheap, but they're also Cheap. Bastards. I love State Farm. (but right now I have Geico, cuz they're, uh, cheap.)

I do have to wonder if they would be more On The Ball if I had purchased the "get a rental car after your accident" rider, which would then put the rental charge on their backs, instead of whoever of the other insurers I can stick it to.

Ditch Geico, go with Progressive. I've experienced two totals while insured under Progressive, and they have made both totally painless.

Still, your Geico experience isn't as bad as when I called Safeco on a Saturday to report an accident: "Uh... can you call back on Monday? That department isn't here right now..."
