I ducked out of work a few hours early, and went there, and gathered up all of my stuff. And the adjuster showed up. It is officially totaled. It will be an excellent source of parts, given that the interior, front end, most of the bodypanels, engine/transmission, airbags, lights and lenses, electronics, and electrical are all in perfect almost-new conduction. The frame and the rear trans-axial, OTOH, are warped beyond safe repair.
The projected timeline is they should have a finalized value early next week. I get the check immediately after that.
I drove around the corner to the dealer to chat some more with "my" salesman. A few handshakes later, and then some investigation with their computer, and they found another one almost identical. Same color, same options, just it apparently has a detail stripe on it. I then went thru a few rounds of wait / sign / wait / sign, and lo, it's mine. It will arrive from Winachee on Monday. Exactly the same price as before, to the penny, out the door. They didn't even run me thru the damn script to sell me the extended warranty this time.
This took a couple of hours (why that long, damn if I know, it's a car dealership, they have to be evil *somehow*).
Then I drove down to Burien to enjoy dinner with elfs and omahas. As usual, it was yummy. Turkey and beef meatloaf, fresh steamed greenbeans, and smashed potatoes. Much time was spent enjoying idle chitchat.
J—y called, yay, and we spent some nice time talking, at least until my phone battery beeped at me. Kouryou-chat wanted to talk to her as well, and got great delight in telling her a garbled version of my accident. I wish J would get an LJ...
Kouryou, instead of being read to, showed off by *reading* "Green Eggs and Ham". She stumbles every few pages, but she is actually reading it, it's not wholly memorized. Pretty good for a 4yo, no?
As the night wore on, my back elected to knot up harder than it had anytime in the past week. I decided to got home, so as to sleep in my own bed, but very quickly decided that I was also far too sleepy to drive safely.
This morning, after breakfast with my hosts, we all departed in various directions at the same time. My apt got it's weekly clean, and some other incidental chores got done. (I found my phone, Elf, it had wormed it's way into a deep pocket in my pack.)
Should I go out, dinner and clubbing, or not?
