I feel a rant building, regarding just how shittingly baroque C++ is as a language. I swear, it's a joke that the entire damn industry mistook for a serious propsal, and now nobody wants to admit that the emperor is naked.

But in the meantime, meat is a passable substitute for sleep.

Weird. I chased that link, and from that chased the link to http://www-users.cs.york.ac.uk/~susan/cyc/p/prog.htm#c++ and discovered that someone was making quotations out of off-the-cuff statements I had made in rec.arts.sf.written about Forth and Lisp.

I have been feeling a definite disjunction for a long time now. The software engineering paradigms, standards, metaphors have been getting more and more abstract. The language of choice, C++, just doesn't support the high-level language abstractions the way a proper language should. It is even more confusing to read than plain old C, and I can see in C the syntax of PDP-11 assemblers.

I should not speak. I hopped off the bandwagon long time ago. I last sold a program in 1992. I'm a procedural programming guy. I speak fluent Pascal and FORTRAN.
