How long has Dave Lister been MCing Robot Wars on TechTV?

I work all day with a teevee in my cube, but I almost never actually *look* at it...

As long as I can remember. I think he might've always been the MC for the British Robot Wars - which is what TechTV carries.

For some reason the Brits have the most kick-ass bots. From time to time they'll have invitationals where the Germans, Dutch, Americans, etc will show up and get their asses kicked. And the Brits have produced the world champions for several years running. I think either Razor or Tornado are champs now.

Survival of the Hoopiest

Yes, he has always MC'ed Robot Wars. The American Robot Wars is not real Robot Wars.

As far as the British competition kicking everyone else's keisters, it seems like a basic competitive issue to me: the Brits are up against a variety of challenges, including the House Bots.

From the little I saw of the American competition (I can't speak for Europe), the bots never had to face Matilda or Kill-a-Lot, or do obstacle courses or tug-of-wars, so they didn't evolve to meet these challenges. Mostly they just looked shiny and had a few spikes on. No horsepower, no resilience of design.

Craig Charles has been hosting the British version pretty much forever. Both Chris Barrie (Rimmer) and Robert Llewellyn (Kryten) have popped their heads in at least once. And I don't even watch it that often. Charles is much more animated than his American counterparts, much like it's more fun to watch Llewellyn and his female co-host on Junkyard Wars than the Americans, who are so techinically inclined they forget to have fun.
