Java in the browser finally works
I'm here at Innovation@Sun 2008, an invitation-only internal Sun conference about the new stuff we are doing.

I got to see the brand new Java applet container. Which has already been publically released.

Ajax has been snarkily described as "JavaScript finally works!"

Well, the new Java applet container is "Java clients finally works!"

I'm still waiting for the day when we can honestly say "Java finally works!"

Java applets were killed by Flash, what, 5 years ago? Is anyone seriously going to develop a Java applet, in 2008? No way. I'd probably have more luck getting folks to use the Tcl browser plugin. Ha.

Little Green Footballs has been doing some really impressive stuff with Ajax. They've just about completely converted everything to it.
